EuroBasket Recap: Germany Crushes Great Britain by 63, Sengun Posts Third Straight 20+5+5

On Monday, September 1 (ET), Day 6 of the 2025 FIBA EuroBasket featured six games across Europe.

1. Jokic on cruise control with 6-7-4
Serbia rolled past the Czech Republic, 82-60.
The Serbians opened with a dominant 11-3 run and never looked back, holding the Czechs to just 5 points on 2-for-18 shooting in the first quarter. Although Serbia relaxed in the following quarters, the early lead proved insurmountable.
Nikola Jokic logged only 18 minutes, finishing with 6 points, 7 rebounds, and 4 assists. Despite Bogdan Bogdanovic being out with a torn hamstring, Serbia still had plenty of contributors: Aleksa Avramovic (14 points, 8 assists), Filip Petrusev (13 points), Nikola Milutinov (12 points, 7 boards), and Vasilije Micic (10 points, 7 rebounds). Czech guard Jaromir Bohacik led his team with 12.

2. Germany destroys Great Britain by 63
Germany crushed Great Britain, 120-57, in the day’s biggest blowout.
The Germans came out firing, building a double-digit lead after the first quarter and expanding the margin to 27 at halftime. Britain completely collapsed in the third quarter, scoring just 9 points, while Germany’s bench continued pouring it on in garbage time.
Orlando Magic forward Tristan da Silva led the way with 25 points, 5 rebounds, 2 blocks, while Dennis Schröder added 19 points and Franz Wagner contributed 18 points and 10 assists. Carl Wheatle-Hesson was Britain’s top scorer with 11 points.

3. Sengun makes history with third straight 20+5+5
Turkey handled Estonia, 84-64.
Turkey opened with a 14-2 run and never trailed, holding Estonia under 20 points in both of the first two quarters.
Rockets center Alperen Sengun continued his stellar play, posting 21 points, 8 rebounds, and 5 assists. He became the first EuroBasket player in the past 30 years to record three consecutive games with at least 20 points, 5 boards, and 5 assists. Cedi Osman (11 points) and Ercan Osmani (14 points, 10 rebounds) also chipped in. Estonia was led by Henri Drell-Kulame’s 16 points.

4. Montenegro earns first group-stage win
Montenegro edged Sweden, 87-81, to pick up its first victory.
Nikola Vucevic was dominant with 23 points, 15 rebounds, 4 assists, 2 steals, and 3 blocks. Montenegro led by 6 at halftime, fell behind in the third, but surged back in the fourth with key baskets from Vucevic and forced turnovers from Sweden.
Sweden’s Ludvig Larsson had a game-high 28 points in defeat.

5. Finland falls just short despite Markkanen’s double-double
Lithuania survived Finland, 81-78, in a tight battle.
With Jonas Valanciunas coming off the bench, Lithuania leaned on guard Rokas Jokubaitis (16 points, 9 assists) and big man Deividas Sirvydis-Blazevic (14 points, 8 rebounds).
Finland fought until the end behind Lauri Markkanen’s 19 points, 11 rebounds, and 6 assists, but late three-pointers and put-backs weren’t enough to close the gap.

6. Porzingis powers Latvia past Portugal
Latvia defeated Portugal, 78-62, behind a dominant performance from Kristaps Porzingis, who put up 21 points, 9 rebounds, and 3 assists.
Latvia buried Portugal with a massive second quarter, outscoring them 27-7 to establish full control. Davis Bertans added 14 points and 6 rebounds, while Anzejs Pasecniks-Smits contributed 15 and 7.
